Installing DMDirc on Microsoft Windows

Download

DMDirc has a graphical installer available for Windows users. Simply download the DMDirc-version-Setup.exe file (labelled "Windows installer") from the downloads page, and double click on the file to being the installation.

User Access Control (Windows Vista users)

Users of Windows Vista may see a "User Access Control" dialog similar to the one pictured on the left when starting the DMDirc installer. Simply click on the "Allow" option to proceed with the installation.

Java installation

The installer will first check that you have a compatible version of Java installed. If you don't, you will see a dialog similar to the one on the left. Before you can install DMDirc, you will need to obtain and install a recent copy of Java from sun.com.

Installation Wizard

Once the installer has checked that a compatible version of Java is installed, the installation wizard will appear, which will guide you through the process of installing DMDirc. For more information, see the installation wizard section.
