DMDirc has a graphical installer available for Linux users.
First, download the DMDirc-version-Setup.run
file (labelled "Linux installer") from the
downloads page.
You will then need to mark the installer as an executable file, and
run it. These steps can be performed either from a command line
or a graphical file manager:
To make the installer executable and run it, use the following two commands in a shell:
chmod +x DMDirc-version-Setup.run ./DMDirc-version-Setup.run
The graphical installer should then appear.
If you prefer to use a graphical file manager, you can usually set a file as executable by right clicking on it and selecting "Properties" or "File properties" from the menu. There should then be a category or tab titled "Permissions" or "Access Controls". Tick or select the "executable" option and press OK. You should then be able to click on the DMDirc installer's icon to launch the graphical installer.
Once the installer has checked that a compatible version of Java is installed, the installation wizard will appear, which will guide you through the process of installing DMDirc. For more information, see the installation wizard section.
